the brief
STIGA is a leading manufacturer of powered gardening equipment. Their ethos is that anyone should be able to simply live and enjoy their garden, no matter their experience or type of garden. STIGA equipment is aimed at making gardening an easier and more enjoyable experience.
To ensure a holistic design vision, STIGA approaches Lamb Industries to create robust industrial design guidelines that would improve customer recognition and streamline future design and development.
the design
Inspired by STIGA’s focus on tools that ‘fit all gardeners’ and ‘work in harmony with nature’, we rejected the macho, pseudo-technical aesthetic widespread amongst garden tools. Instead preferring a more comfortable style, with beautiful textures, flowing forms, and restrained details.
The designs are simple and pure. Design details are meaningful, communicating physical and emotional attributes. There is nothing superfluous that detracts from the product’s purpose. This makes these tools intuitive to use and approach, while also highlighting the innovative engineering.
