This triptych was concieved in response to the prompt 'Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.' I sought to metaphorically represent my concept and awareness of self in relation to the past, present, and future. Together, they reflect a kind of paranoid narcisissm with which I scrutinize myself constantly; and the simultaneously held images of myself that persist in different levels of my consciousness.
While working, my natural preoccupation with myself was heightened, and compounded in the presence of multiple likenesses. Two phrases repeatedly came to mind: "I Take Myself Very Seriously" and "I Make Myself Crazy." I could write at length about what these phrases likely mean to me. Instead, I believe they serve as a fitting title to the triptych.
