San Diego Pancake House

Logo Design
San Diego Pancake House was a client produced by FakeClients.com, a generator that produces design briefs as prompts for design practice. This was one of the very first logos I designed as practice for a course I took as a part of Global Business and Digital Arts.
Central Logo

This logo features a stack of pancakes with maple syrup, as well as cutlery and the business name. I chose to use a simplistic font, Gotham Bold, to align with the minimalistic look of the overall logo.

At first, I began by designing a very detailed stack of pancakes, however, after designing a few renditions, I decided the simple shapes provided a cleaner look. I chose a monochromatic colour scheme for the logo and text, and used grey for the cutlery and plate.

This logo was designed entirely in Adobe Illustrator, switching between designing on an IPad Pro and IMac. I learned about the basics of using Adobe Illustrator through this project, experimenting with features such as the warp effect and the drawing tool. Using the warp effect, I was able to create curved text for the logo.
Submark

There were two sub mark logos designed for this project, one was designed using the main logo and another was designed with similar features, however, includes a jug of maple syrup instead of a stack of pancakes.

Sub marks are typically simplified versions of the logo to be used on a smaller scale, similarly to a watermark. As the business is a Pancake House, the sub marks feature central items you’d find, such as pancakes and syrup.

These sub marks were also designed in Adobe illustrator, however, the maple syrup jug was originally drawn in Procreate and then was vectorized in Adobe Illustrator. The syrup seen dripping from the jug was drawn in Illustrator, as well as the fork and knife.
