Deaf Assistive Devices

In this university project, I undertook the task of creating a comprehensive set of icons that represent deaf assistive devices. These icons serve as visual representations of various tools and technologies designed to support individuals with hearing impairments. The primary objective was to enhance accessibility and promote understanding of these devices within the deaf community and beyond.
The target audience for this icon set includes individuals with hearing impairments, their families, educators, researchers, and anyone interested in gaining insight into the world of deaf assistive devices. To ensure maximum comprehension and usability, the icons were meticulously designed with clarity, simplicity, and visual harmony in mind.
By employing recognizable symbols and metaphors, each icon effectively conveys the functionality and purpose of the respective assistive device.
The set includes representations of commonly used devices such as hearing aids, cochlear implants, sign language interpreters, text telephones, assistive listening devices, and visual alert systems. These icons are designed to be easily distinguishable and identifiable, even at smaller sizes or in grayscale, prioritising accessibility and inclusivity.
The overall aesthetic appeal of the icon set was also considered, aiming to capture attention while maintaining a professional and informative tone. The icons were created using vector-based graphics, allowing for scalability and adaptability across various digital platforms, including websites, mobile applications, and educational materials.
Through this project, I aim to contribute to the accessibility and understanding of deaf assistive devices, fostering a more inclusive environment for individuals with hearing impairments.
