This publication arises from the need to catalogue certain keywords present in the publications “Reader 023: Appropriation” by Diogo Moutinho and Diogo Saraiva. Both publications aimed to reflect on appropriation in the art world and more specifically in graphic design, making an almost chronological and conceptual follow-up, presenting several texts, projects and examples of how appropriation has become a common and almost natural tool to the human being with all its pros and cons.
CORE OF PICTUM aims to catalogue the most important concepts present in the chosen texts of the readers and to tell the narrative of these words in image form. By assigning visual symbols or elements to individual letters, this project allows us to convey complex ideas associated with appropriation in a succinct and visually compelling manner, conveying the nuanced ideas and dynamics associated with appropriation in the realm of arts and design.
