A personal project for Empire Magazine's True Detective poster competition.
I had too much fun making the first poster for this competition that I simply had to submit a second entry.

 

I wanted to make a poster based around the lead characters that could literally be viewed from different perspectives. I feel the characters are polar opposites of each other so the idea of a reflection felt natural.

 

I started with the typography and decided that True should represent McConaughey's character and Detective should be for Harrelson's. So I flipped them and added the iconic symbol into the mix, then i worked up illustrations of the scenes where both characters are being interviewed, so they would sit together nicely.

 

Finally I added some miniature scenes from the show which link to the direction you are viewing the image.

 

I tried a few variations on colour and style, but preferred the cleaner approach. Hope you like it.
