The University of Hertfordshire's Graphic Design and Illustration course has produced a large amount of stunning work this year, making it one of the best years since the course began. In order to celebrate this, we designed a catalogue for our course's Degree Show, elegantly showcasing everyone's work with a bit of tongue-in-cheek humour.
A gold foil-block rosette was used to symbolise the "first class" level of work produced, as these are used in dog shows to represent the winners.
Graphic Designers and Illustrators have been given a personality breed to help distinguish the students' chosen pathway – Designers are Border Collies, whereas Illustrators are Welsh Terriers.
This is the centre spread of the book – any student which failed to pay money into the graduate fund for the degree show [and this catalogue] or failed to submit any work was placed on this spread. No excuses now I'm afraid!
The use of snappy, humourous puns worked well with the concept and are dotted throughout the book. Some are more obvious, others lesser-known – you'll have to fetch a copy and read on to find them all!
