Program (loose): Architectural object of interface – Lens of the City

This project follows a discourse of studies in materiality, translations between planar projections and drawings, and 3D physical forms, and a contextualization and re-interpretation of these operations through full scale concrete casts as a programmed object in a site. Beginning with explorations of a particular mode of concrete casting, rigid forms in particular, I worked to test the compounding layers of materiality, weight, space, "objectness", and visual experience into a worked composition. The constant questioning of forms in a 2-dimensional surface that shape and form in space, as a physical object, becomes a central inquiry of the project as I progress between dimensions, scales, and material characteristics. By adding more complexity to this mix in the form of a program and designated site, the designed object acts as an urban compass through visual metaphors and material translations.
Rigid forms: dynamic and flexible formwork creating volumetric and spatial cast objects.
Initial prompts:

1. Heavy or Light
2. Way of Working with Concrete
3. Object of Interface
Initial site analysis: urban infill figure through perspectival calibration.
Iterative models.
Concrete casting: final models.
Site representation.
Final artboard: process and construction photos.
Final artboard: shaping and dimensional definition of individual composite posts.
Final artboard: urban analysis and site plan.
Final artboard: sited renderings.
