A hard to swallow pill is a truth or realty that is hard to accept or imagine is true, mainly fueled by denial. It requires lots of self-reflection, confrontation and time to digest these concepts.

The pill mirrors are a tool for people to "face" their hardest truth and "reflect" on them. The visual translation is taking the mirror in the literal context of a pharmaceutical company to reiterate the idea in an eerie context that is equally unsettling as facing our truths.
