"Snow White"

Thick falls the snow, thick, it prevails
Covers the word by linen veils.

With painted lips and hands pale,
White powder, black on the eye
Somehow strange feels Snow White;
A  Snow White somewhat old, somewhat alone,
Watching the snow from the veranda;
Doesn’t feel the cold,
But awaits her prince to come,
To kiss her, to wake her up; but he is late!
She stands alone in the empty veranda,
The snow falls and she’s not cold;
But she’s scared when she remembers
And shies off from the wall
Where there is sleeping a golden mirror,
A lake still, in the frost;
Don’t wake him up, it’s at your loss;
If you forgot it and ask
‘Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the prettiest of all?’
It’ll taunt you immediately overall:
‘This white hair?’ ‘Yesterday it wasn’t there!’
‘Your wrinkles have piled up;
You’re no more beautiful enough!’
‘You are a liar this is a prank
My hair is still black!’

Thick falls the snow, thick, it prevails
Covers the word by linen veils.

Small Snow White, into her palace
With mirrors and crystals and glasses
Drinks tea and watches
To the cold snow, the white branches;
The snow is spreading a white shroud
And hanging laces on the branches
… but her prince is late
Who can she ask?
And the mirror is not a liar;
First wrinkles, forlorn hopes;
The snow is spreading white fabrics
That tea helps not at all
The cold seeps in her blood;
Alone in the snow, she now fells cold
The snow is sending white birds
But her prince has forgotten her, he is lost,
He’s far away and will never return.

Thick falls the snow, thick, it prevails
Covers the white neck, the eyes…

"Monster In Love"

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said: ‘‘Is it good, friend?’’
‘‘It is bitter-bitter’’, he answered;
‘‘But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart.’’
