Pleased to Meet Me

Hello! I've had the pleasure of meeting some of you, and If we haven't met yet, pleased to meet you, I'm Kate.  This is the project I created for Graphic Processes class. I have used analogue and digital imagery to introduce myself and communicate some aspects of who I am through three semiotic modes of representation. You can find out more about my process by viewing my project collection here.

On the first page you will see my signature, ways to connect and three words that describe me.
On the other side are my two objects in duotone. I arranged them in a way that shows movement, perspective and openness. One tone is olive green, it feels earthy and calm. The other tone is a vibrant pink, it feels playful and bright. These are two of my favorite colors and I also resonate with the feelings they evoke. My first object is a watering can that I've had for a long time and use very regularly. I enjoy being in nature and gardening Also the watering can represents nurturing things and and the desire to grow. The second object is a small butterfly sculpture carved out of agate that I got on a trip to Colorado. I love the color and texture and weight of the stone and I identify with a lot of the symbolism that a butterfly represents.
When the pamphlet is completely open on the flip side, there is a self-portrait  made from two different monotone portraits layered to imitate overprint.
Here are the front and back of the project side by side.
Here's the whole thing in action...
