Makoko is one of the biggest slums that have a lack of sanitation, a high population, and faces a risk of rising sea levels,
CONCEPT: Affording easy self-build unit that provides cross natural ventilation, self vegetation, and has a dependable source of electricity to be sufficient, also it has a modular form that could be combined and create another unity for a higher family number (unity 1 = 4 members),(unit 2 = 2 members )and they sharing harvest garden, and (unit 3 for extension = 6 members ) this to provide different variety to ensure flexibility.
Structure:
using bamboo which is a plant that grows there and affordable, timber and recycled plastic for roofing, and used plastic barrels.
Floating concept:
high rising sea levels nowadays are a big issue to overcome we implemented used barrels in helping the kit unit to float in order to be sustainable and contribute to facing it.
