This book is the result of a self-assigned project. I wanted to document this art which so captivated my mind and mesmerized me as a child; and continues to provide the thrills and spills that keep my imagination the driving force of my art.
I first started photographing these images with my point and shoot Leica using transparency film, then creating Polaroid transfers using a combination of chemicals and heat to enhance color saturation on archival watercolor paper. I scanned the original transfers and saved them as Photoshop files. Due to Polaroid discontinuing its instant films, I’ve photographed the other images with my Nikon D80.
There are tons of photographers at parades and you find that you get shoved around a bit and often times other photographers step right into front of you just as you snap a photo, so you have to be patient and get what you can, when you can and hopefully come away with some fun shots, and hope you didn't get in front of other photographers.
