Emilia Koch's profile

Trabajo Final Itálica- Barcelona Caligrafía

Italic calligraphy emerged during the Renaissance in Italy and, like other art forms, represented a departure from the previous style, Gothic. The aim was to create a simpler, easier, and faster form of calligraphy for practical reasons. As a result, the number of strokes required to write each letter was reduced, and they began to connect with each other, giving rise to continuous cursive writing. With this change, the shapes of some letters underwent a drastic transformation, particularly the letter "a," which went from having two or more strokes to just one.
For this project, I decided to select a poem that has recently captured my attention and presented itself to me as a loving message from someone who protects me. As we all know, books are sources of magic where we can discover the most beautiful messages. In this case, I have chosen the poem "Return to Shyness" from the incredible book Fragilities by Sara Búho.

Vuelve a mirarte
como si te conocieras
por primera vez.
Also, perhaps due to shyness, I wanted to convey a timid text, with low color contrast, carefully crafted but with an openness that disperses.
