Eclectic Orphans #6
(Outtakes)

These eclectic, unpredictable images are typically taken on a Saturday morning over a month or two, where I let chance dictate the outcome; some are related, others are not, and they are randomly incentivized by the artistic interest of the moment. Some images are orphans, meaning they were demoted to the scrap pile from previous posts due to repetition or similarity. Now reinterpreted to a series I call "Eclectic Orphans."

Inscribed on the tombstone a native of Scotland born in 1818 who died in 1898 married a girl from England and were buried together in 1909; I was fascinated to see this as the location, Birds Landing, California, is highly remote, prompting me to think about the journey's folk take towards destiny and survival enduring a north Atlantic crossing in pursuit of a better life.

Now home to the Shiloh Wind Power Plant, cattle and sheep farming,  Birds Landing has a population of 96 people. Incidentally, the hills are ploughed to prevent a grass fire from damaging wind turbines.

Film location of Clint Eastwood's "Honkytonk Man."
Kite surfing, The Great Pacific Highway, Santa Cruz.
Monticello Dam, "Glory Hole." A previous shot from January showed the water level at least 25 feet below the current picture.  The last time water flowed through the spillway was in 2017..
