The Magic World of Ambigrams
Transformation is a process revealing inherent qualities within things. The concealed, whether behind or between, often holds greater significance than immediate appearances. The artist aims to raise awareness of this evolving realm, prompting observers to see beyond the obvious.
An 'Ambigram' is a unique typographical creation that simultaneously exists on two different reading/meaning planes of a page. Its distinctive feature is its ability to remain unchanged when inverted, or to reveal a second word when reoriented through rotation, reflection, or a change in vantage point.
Ambigrams can be likened to the art genre Cubism, allowing the viewer to perceive and interpret multiple facets of an object within two dimensions. For many artists, ambigrams represent an exploration and fusion of calligraphy, typography, and optical illusions.
Types of ambigrams
The most common type of ambigram is the 'rotational ambigram.' There are two variations: in one, the word or phrase remains identical when read upside-down, while in the other, it reveals a different word or phrase when rotated 180 degrees.

Another common ambigram type is the 'mirror ambigram,' which can be symmetrical in relation to a horizontal (lake reflection) or vertical axis (wall reflection).
