Restaurant reconstruction, Rotterdam, the Netherlands

[for Ben Kraan architecten BNA, Bodegraven, the Netherlands]
Aesthetic reconstruction advice: Klaas Vermaas
Completed 2014

On may 10th 1940 the Waalhaven Airport in Rotterdam was destroyed by German bombs. Now its restaurant is reconstructed on Rotterdam the Hague Airport, overlooking the runway. As the original was a wooden building I advised on the exterior detailing in order to construct it in brick whilst maintaining its original 1920's style and atmosphere.
