Belle is a handwritten typeface that was created as an exploration into my memories and experiences on Belle Isle, comprised of one family of type, and one family of glyphs. I named my two families le main and la tête which translate to the hand, and the head, respectively. I chose French names for both my family names and the typeface name to correspond to the island’s name, as well as a slight nod to my 12 years of French education.
