STUDIO 4 | APT WELCOME CENTER

Studio 4 focused on collaboration as well as design for a real client. For this studio I was studying in Lacoste France for a period of 8 weeks. This project was completed with my partner Catie Bausinger a fellow Interior Design major at SCAD. For parts of this project we consulted with a Service Design student in order to get a better sense of how some of the exhibits would work in reality. The project itself was to renovate an old train station in Apt, France and turn it into a welcome center that would represent many of the surrounding villages and bring more tourism to those areas.
The floor plan includes office space, storage, seasonal display areas, "plan your trip" tables, brochure space, an information zone, an art gallery for local artists, as well as a bike lounge. The outside seating is arranged to mimic the basic rythm of the train tracks that were once there. The design overall emphasizes the site's history.
