HAPPY PRIDE MONTH
Members of the LGBTQ community treasure the month of June because it is dedicated to celebrating their identities. Every year, this pride month honours their accomplishments and struggles to ensure equality in the world. Several events take place all over the world to commemorate and raise global awareness of equality in identity.
In India, on July 2, 1999, Kolkata hosted the first-ever pride parade, known as the Kolkata Rainbow Pride Walk. Today, over 21 cities organise and celebrate Pride Month to raise awareness. These parades show that the community is being accepted by the country's youth. However, openly accepting these identities remains a work in progress due to the boundaries set at home and at school.
