Bloodsuckers for Mother Jones

Now that summer is here, we are once again at the mercy of disease carrying insects. Mother Jones provides some helpful tips on how to protect yourself from awful bug-borne infections like the West Nile virus, Lyme disease, yellow fever and dengue–all of which are on the rise. Basically, the only way to avoid being bitten and infected is to slather on the DEET. While that sounds easy enough, not all insect repellants are created equal. In fact, bug spray is lightly regulated and man labels feature misleading claims about how effective they are. Read all about it here.
