This book is inspired by my grandmother, Deline Gifford. Her story follows the diagnosis of her husband, Bruce, with Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Lewy Body Dementia. Deline writes a series of letters addressed to him as she tries to process the intimate, hilarious and heart-breaking moments of the end of their lives together. The title, Return to sender, reflects on Bruce’s decaying mind and hints at the fact that he will never read those letters.
