The purpose of an ident is to communicate in a few seconds (or more) not only the name and logo of a brand, but also an aesthetic that we feel represents us and that we want to propose to our customers. For this reason, we focused on making one already and with different techniques, ranging from Houdini, C4D and After FX.

All in one simulation, 100.000 big rocks, and 40 Million grain particles.

PDG takes care of caching first the RBD, after this the PDG cache a VDB of the RBD that go in POP grain sim and Cache this one.

The Simulation was on a flat ground, after the sim i make a point deform via a compile block and invoke compile to the different cached sim, this was necessary because i can modify the terrain elevation shot by shot, without resim anything.

The Terrain was a brand new heightfield, 70 Million poly, i extract the center part to leave at high res and apply more resolution and detail, after i polyreduce far part to 5 million.

I generate the heightfield very big and dense, so when i convert to poly is 70 Million polygon and is made of quad polygon. My area of interest is about 2 percent of this area (the rectangle in yellow ) , i split the center part , i made a mask attribute to exclude the shared part with outer part, and then i subdivide this and apply more detail with vop or mountain noise. Then polyreduce the outer part and merged back again.

After this i pointdeform the simulation of grains and RBD by this new deformed geo, so it adapts to the new surface.
