axonometry - current situation and conclusions from the analysis
The project of the main square in Swarzędz recognizes the local residents as the most important users of public space. In the southern and western part of the market, car traffic was limited, and a promenade with ordered greenery placed in pots equipped with seats appeared. In the western part, instead of a large parking lot, there was a representative square limited by greenery, which retained its function. The surface of the square was designed with cubes obtained from the reconstruction of the Zamkowa road. The entire complex has a bicycle path running from Wrzesińska and Kórnicka Streets to Zamkowa Street - accentuated by a low platform that stands out among the greenery. From the north, where there is a narrow passage leading to the market square, a monumental square with a statue of August Cieszkowski was created.
masterplan of the main square in Swarzędz
The main idea accompanying from the beginning of the design process was to create a space that would encourage people to stop at the main square and spend their free time there. In order to emphasize the role of the pedestrian in the space, car traffic has been limited and spaces friendly for spending free time and establishing interpersonal relationships have been created. In the eastern part there is a place for recreation. LED illuminated wooden platforms were created, serving as a meeting and resting place, additionally equipped with plant pots. The multifunctionality of the square and the variety of attractions will positively affect the number of residents and tourists visiting the place.
