Challenge
The challenge we faced was to create a surf app and campaign that not only provided valuable data and insights to surfers but also captured the essence of the surfing experience. We wanted to evoke the stoke and excitement of riding waves, both in and out of the water whilst using the app. Our goal was to make users feel connected to the sport, even when they were not actively surfing.
Process
Our process began with a deep understanding of the surfing culture and the innate stoke that surfers experience. Being surfers ourselves, we had an intuitive grasp of what it feels like to ride waves and be immersed in the surfing lifestyle. This insider knowledge guided us as we meticulously analyzed the core elements that evoke stoke in surfers, enabling us to identify the key factors that needed to be incorporated into the app. With this foundation, we moved on to design an engaging user interface that would visually capture the essence of surfing, utilizing vibrant colors, dynamic visuals, and intuitive gestures to evoke the exhilarating sensation of riding waves.
Solution
The campaign we created "Stoked anytime, anywhere." With the dawn patrol app and campaign, we successfully brought the stoke of surfing beyond the water, allowing users to relive their favourite moments and experience the thrill even when they're not in the lineup. By integrating comprehensive features for performance analysis surfers can continuously improve their skills and fuel their stoke. Our dedication to detail, combined with our intimate knowledge of the surfing lifestyle, ensured that every interaction with the app would evoke the stoke surfers feel on the waves.
