CONCEPT 

BeReal hosts live events where people create genuine connections. each is given one chance to take a single picture. The pictures' metadata will be analyzed, looking at data such as when the picture was taken and which artist appeared in Picture.
This data will be visualized in a live interactive timeline during and after the event. This timeline will appear on BeReal Microsite specifically for the event where attendees can search for their BeReal Moment.
This event is an opportunity to let go from the digital "perfect reality" that's become the standard in the modern day, an opportunity in the form of a festival to be your true self, to BeReal

Traditional Social Media causes you to compare your relationship to others you see online. When you're in the moment (at an event) with your friends the last thing you're thinking about is comparing yourself or your friends to other people. Instead your creating real bonds and not text threads with new and old friends with memories that will last much longer than any social media relationship

social media use can lead to a lack of meaningful social interaction. People may spend hours on social media instead of engaging in face-to-face conversations or social activities. This can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation, Creating Real relationships can improve mental health immensely.

MUSIC. What could possibly bring us together more as humans than the thing that makes us all move? A festival is a common Human experience and bereal is using its data-collecting capability in a different way to other social media companies. Using this data allows users to self-reflect on how the real-life connections they made is so much better compared to any other social media connection they've made.

The way festivals are set out to this build-up to a final act will reflect in the data timeline as everyone feels the moments rise and rise into one equally experienced climax bringing everyone together. This feeling of togetherness will be reflected in the data and presented in order to reflect on it and better society.
The aim was to address the negative effects of social media and persuade teenagers and young students to change their social media habits and their perception of themselves and others on social media. By leveraging data visualization, and the data collected by be real the project seeks to provide insights to users and remind them to live in the moment and that we're all human, our social media's might strive to be perfect and we aren't and that's what makes us human. This is what lies at the foundation of the BeReal Brand, celebrating the imperfections weve lost through traditional social media, celebrating them together to form real connections.

By hosting live events where people create genuine connections, BeReal provides an opportunity for individuals to let go of the digitally perfected reality that has become the standard in modern society. The live events are designed to encourage attendees to be their true selves, fostering real bonds and meaningful memories that last longer than any social media relationship. The data shows the reality of the collective human experience (event), and how for one night they were all part of something bigger than themselves, truly and authentically bring people together.

Partying in today's world is almost always followed up by a "debrief" where you and your friends all recollect the night together, talking about their favourite moments and performances. This is something every young adult can relate to, I use this human truth to create data visualization that serves as the "debrief" connecting not just a few friends but everyone that attended. Its this connection that BeReal sees as the answer to social media's impacts on young adults.
