We were approached by ERDF Convergence to create a set of Icons to be used to help with navigation on their website. We need to make sure that they fitted with the current brand styling and not look like an after thought. They also had to work really small, so they had to be recognisable and not too complex.
The brief required us to come up with a suite of simple Icons that visually translated each section. When working with a government body, every aspect has to be considered and each Icon had to be sure to represent each area without being misleading or misinterpreted. There are 3 parent Icons, Investing In Our Future, Making Connections and Strengthening Business. Each set then had further Icons. Investing in Our Future has Higher Education, Regeneration and Research, Innovation ad Knowledge, Making Connections has Transport, preparing for Infrastructure and Digital, with Strengthening Business having Workspace and Business Support.
