The Immortality of Flowers: Frida Kahlo

The Immortality of Flowers: Frida Kahlo
This digital mosaic is a portrait of Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. I made my digital mosaic portrait from hand-woven fabrics with floral patterns that Frida loved. The style of the mosaic is patchwork from hand-woven fabrics. I depicted Frida inspired by a famous photo of her. In the photo, Frida was wearing a dress with floral embroideries. Frida adored flowers. When she was little, she made flower arrangements in her father's photo studio. When she got married, she grew various plants in the garden of her blue house. Flowers are also seen a lot in her art. She made many works where she adorned herself with flowers, gave symbolic meanings with flowers and showed flowers as a part of nature. In my digital mosaic portrait, I tried to reflect Frida's love, admiration and attachment to flowers. As Frida said, "I paint flowers so they will not die."
