‘Kopi’ means coffee and ‘Kaki’ is a term used to describe a companion, thus ‘Kopi Kaki’ means having a coffee companion.

The concept revolves around communal living that was prevalent in our kampongs back in the 1950s where our grandparents and parents used to live in.
The chair designed as a corner seat to conform to our uncles different sitting postures be it having one leg rested on the seat or simply in a relaxing sitting posture with their legs open wide. It adapts the concept of hanging our tea and coffee takeaway packets that is uniquely seen in Singapore. The backrest is designed to resemble a handle allowing them drag the chairs to sit and chat with each other.

Therefore, taking into present day context, ‘Kopi Kaki’ consists of a series of a bench, a chair and a stool inspired by our uncles daily lives.
