Introduction
As a Senior UX and UI Designer I designed a mobile financial app for Saudi Arabia bank employees and customers. The purpose of creating the application is to provide employees and customers with reliable, up-to-date knowledge in the field of banking and finance. The information is divided into 16 topics and is provided in the form of text, video and podcast.
The challenge I faced was that the app should be modern, intuitive, drawing on the latest technologies and best UX practices.
Design process
User Research
I conducted user research to understand the needs, preferences, and pain points of the bank employees and customers. The methods I employed were six in-depth-interviews with C level managers.
Prototyping
I translated my research findings into interactive prototypes using Figma (high fidelity wireframes) and Adobe After Effects (3d model of interactive menu with 3d icons created in Blender). Prototyping serves as a crucial bridge between the initial ideation phase and the final implementation of a design solution. This visual representation helps stakeholders and team members better understand the design direction and provides a realistic preview of how the final product will look and function.
Design phase
I transformed the insights gained from user research into visually appealing and intuitive interfaces. My focus was creating a futuristic and modern design that aligns with the project requirements and target audience.
Usability tests
I conducted usability tests to gather feedback and refine the design.
I invited four SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) to user observation online sessions and conducted A/B testing. By involving users in the evaluation of the prototype, I was able to identify usability issues, gather insights, and make informed design decisions. This feedback loop helped me ensure that the final design meets user needs, preferences, and expectations, leading to a more successful and satisfying user experience.
By uncovering usability problems and potential improvements through prototyping, we avoided costly redesigns or reworks during the development phase. Additionally, prototyping helped us streamline communication and collaboration within the design team and with stakeholders, reducing misunderstandings and facilitating a smoother design workflow.
