D-19  is a product of 2012 Winter Semester Media Theory course taught by Suzy Jospeh to 7th semester Applied Arts students in the German University in Cairo. A team of 10, including students and teachers, joined forces to edit and design a selection of students’ article assignments to transform into a tangible memory we chose to call D19; “D” standing for “Design” and “19” standing for 19-dashers, 7th semester students’ common ID code."_extract from Editor's Note.

I was responsible for illustrations and photography. Photographing all who wrote in the magazine. And for illustartions, I was responsible for The cover, Sections' separators, and 2 main illustrations for articles.
The cover had to reflect the theme of Ancient Egypt and the sections of the magaizne.

It is a combination of Ancient Egyptian symbols and gods; the sun, in the middle, represents the primary element of life in Ancient Egypt. The two snakes of the god Heka symbolize protection. The scarab symbolizes resurrection, creation, strength and rebirth among other things. The ankh, key of life, is a life-giving symbol held precious by Ancient Egyptians. Strings attached between the ankh and scarab is a hidden harp. The wings are a symbol of Horus, who had the gift of sight, since one of his eyes was the sun and the other was the moon. The wings end with the feather of Maat, a symbol of truth, justice, morality and balance.
