Art Direction and Branding for Bag Brand

The art direction and branding concept I developed for NONA's second article bag, a local brand from Indonesia. NONA offers a thoughtfully curated collection of mini bags, skillfully crafted by local artisans. Each bag in the collection is limited and carries a unique meaning.

The second article, named the ONDÈ bag, draws inspiration from the traditional snack "onde-onde." These delectable treats are round-shaped pastries made from glutinous rice flour, coated with sesame seeds, and boast a delightful combination of crispness and chewiness. Originating from China, onde-onde found its way to Indonesia during the Majapahit Kingdom era through Chinese admirals. Over time, the snack gained popularity and became a beloved treat in the Majapahit community.

NONA takes pride in presenting the ONDÈ bag as the second article, designed for all NONA across Indonesia to wear on special occasions with semi-formal attire.
In this art direction and branding concept, I aimed to capture the essence of the ONDÈ bag and its cultural significance. The visual elements, color palette, and typography draw inspiration from the traditional and vibrant atmosphere associated with onde-onde.

The bag design itself reflects the round shape and texture of the snack, while maintaining a sophisticated and contemporary appeal. Through this concept, NONA aims to celebrate Indonesian heritage, support local artisans, and offer a distinctive accessory that holds both cultural and fashion value.
