Pass the bag
Pass the Bag is a system which aims to promote the use of reusable bags and raise environmental awareness in Hong Kong Wetmarkets. The system includes foldable and multi-functional bags that allow users to carry different items they got from the wet market. The bag will be provided by the wet market store merchants and users can lend the bag for free. A sensor rack will be installed for storing and washing the bags in each store. With the application of the NFC zipper, all the lending information will be stored automatically in the chip. The chip links to the borrowor’s Octopus card account and carries the basic information of the bag user and the lending details. Once the user return the bag to the rack, the rack will automatically change the status of the bag to ‘Returned’. To ensure the hygiene after using, the rack also contains the function of sanitising the bags. Pass the Bag promotes the action of passing their bags to other citizens in Hong Kong to protect the environment and lower the consumption of plastic bags.
