Alpine with Tomek Makolski

Automotive Photography
Alpine – a marque rich in racing and rally heritage – commissioned Tomek Makolski for the launch of their first EV. Shot high on a futuristic rooftop with neon lighting, the weather co-operated to stunning effect - a dramatic rainfall was spectacular on the slick wet surfaces of the tarmac and the matt white paint of the car.

Custom LEDS provided continuous lighting, made to look like fluorescent tubes both in physical construction and then graded at Recom Paris to give the distinct compressed whites of to enhance a moody, faintly dystopian feel, influenced by the motorsport roots of the Alpine brand.
Tomek incorporated nods to the influence of Blade Runner in selected shots…neon…rain…rooftops..projection screens and smoke. With careful planning of the lighting and sequence of images, it was completed over two days and one (long!) night. The shots then went to Recom Paris for further work on the atmospheric mood and to enhance the details that make this epic series
