World Poverty Exhibit
The World Poverty Exhibit sponsored by the World Bank, creates awareness about poverty and the World Bank's role in helping to alleviate the situation. The exhibit takes viewers on a maze-like journey from "Apathy" to "Empathy". The entrance to the exhibit thus starts with the word apathy. Brochures, picked up at the entrance, provide further information about the exhibit.
Brochures, picked up at the entrance, provide further information about the exhibit. Viewers can sit at the entrance seating area shaped like the World Bank logo to read before they enter the exhibit.
The outline of seating area shows the shape of the World Bank logo. It is made out of wood to further signify earth/world. Their mission: "Working for a world free of poverty – from apathy to empathy" is engraved on it.
The maze contains walls with typographic designs to evoke more of an emotional response from viewers about how it feels to be poor or how others see the poor. Wall elevations also include different languages to show the international aspect of poverty.
