Sheldon Road Church Branding and Identity

Branding project and publicity for Sheldon Road Methodist Church

Full process to create logo variations and branding assets that represent the church's goals, mission statement and style; aiming to reach their local community. Starting with brand strategy to decide on a clear tone of voice, their personality, and how to communicate with their target audience - local people who interact with the church or use its building.
Primary full colour logo lockups and submark variations to be used as graphic elements
The key features used to show a friendlier tone of voice for a church consisted of simple shapes, rounded corners and a bright colour palette taken from the secondary colour palette in The Methodist Church's branding. These choices were also necessary to feel open and accessible to their wide target audience - people of all ages and 'walks of life'.
Sample pages from brand guidelines document

Created as a summary presentation to explain their branding but also as an easy and practical 'how to' guide to help church members apply their specific colours and fonts as those applying the branding may be unfamiliar with creating designs or using software.
Large outdoor posters and illustrations

Designs for print that can be placed in the church's outdoor poster frames by the doors and facing out on the the street to promote their events to passers by.

Simple illustrations in brand colours are used instead of images to keep a simpler and more consistent style. Before their branding, any promotional material used royalty free photographs or graphics of differing styles which could over complicate and detract from information, so having access to their own set of graphics was an important part of their deliverables.

These graphics also needed to be friendly and accessible to an audience unfamiliar with church, rather than only church orientated or biblical imagery - for example simplifying an image of worship during a church service to a music note.
Christmas publicity

Design variations for Christmas posters and a banner for their café window. The range of colours in their palette allows for some specific variations for seasonal designs, in this case Christmas events will continue to use primarily pink and green colours.
