Placement is related to emphasizing the transition from old to new, directing wind patterns to ventilate the interior, and its adjacency to the original foundations of the 1930's Levy House. 

Roof design promotes natural ventilation and light, as well as follows waterflow on the site. Curved windows on the northwest wall allows for consistant light and views to the natural forestry vs the opposite side viewing the research.
