Relaxing Visual Space Exhibition

Visual Space Exhibition
for Relaxation
This is a University project in exploring how to create a visual space for individuals who struggle with anxiety and need an escape that isn't social media. The idea of this exhibition aims to have it's viewers participate in exploring and interacting with spaces you can go through at your own pace and come out of with a sense of tranquility, instead of adrenaline rush.

1. Mixing Paint Area
This idea came from watching videos of slowly moving paint colours merging and mixing together in galaxy-like patterns. They are not only relaxing to watch, but fascinating. I wanted people to have their own control over the substance with getting to pour and mix their own paint in sinks.

2. Forest-Themed Tunnel
When I sent out a survey, I asked what spatial designs people would most prefer to feel relaxed in. Most voted for a dimly-lit tunnel experience. So the idea of the tunnel came to formation, and the forest-theme was inspired from the philosophy of finding inner-peace by connecting back with nature.

3. Underwater-Themed Hanging Decorations
Now that I had the idea of connecting back to nature, I wanted to bring Earth's environments into my space in a more visual sense. I already had the idea of having an area where people can walk through hanging decorations (inspired from IMAGINARA, https://imaginarianow.com/), but not the environment theme. Since I wanted each space to be different from one another design and function-wise, I chose to go with an underwater theme with exciting colours and soft illustrations to invite the individuals into the space. Because being underwater can most likely stress people, especially if they have a fear of sharks or drowning.

Since everyone experiences anxiety for different reasons and have different fears, these spaces may not suffice for everyone. Therefore, these spaces are designed to be optional choices and not a linear experience in order to get through the space.
