EL MORDISCO INMORTAL
(The Inmortal Bite)

In the semifinals of the Copa Libertadores of 1991 , Colo-Colo (Chile) faced Boca Jrs. (Argentina) at the Monumental stadium in Santiago, Chile.

They were playing deep in the second half, with a comfortable lead of 3-0 for Colo-Colo, but Diego Latorre makes a goal for Boca and taunt the Chilean players, starting a huge fight that included players, coaches and reporters(!) In the middle of this brawl " RON ", a police dog, in some point was near the goalkeeper of Boca Jrs. Carlos " Mono" Navarro Montoya, who was gone berzerk, and gave him an accurate bite on the right buttock , deterring him of any other movement. Moments after this, the spirits calmed down and the referee was able to finish what was left of the game, finally ending 3-1 in favor of Colo-Colo.

This result was enough to let the Chilean team to pass to the final game, wich they won and became the Champions.

Since that day, "RON"  made history as part of the championship campaign, and we, the fans, remember him in the day of the game, May 23rd. Today this noble police dog rest in peace at the police dogs cemetary in Santiago, but still watch the games from heaven.

It wasn't blind rage
or a sad quirk of men
It was JUSTICE that your precise bite
signed in blood the cheek of the "mono"
Your body is gone
but your immortal bark
It will ring forever in us
RON
