"Memento Mori" (remember death).
A phrase rooted in classical Stoic philosophy and adopted into the religious symbolism of Western Christianity, it has functioned in the art world to signify a work that evokes a sense of mortality and the fragility of life in the art observer. Within a Western culture that thrives on the denial of death, such works often land with a countercultural urgency.
While creating the moodboard, I used the concept of "Memento Mori" in the image selection. The images of sculptures to show the human/mortal side were mixed with skulls and bones showing the fragility of humans.
I worked with a minimalist color palette enhancing focal points throughout the artwork, and the typography concepts were used to create a feeling of destruction, fragility and a bit twisted.
