Statement of Intent on Experimentation and Inspiration

Go to one location and take a series of photos using experimentation such as:
Motion blur
Double exposure
Bokeh
Loss of View

Location: Intersection of a canal and a cycle path on a disused railway track. Stay close to the intersection and find inspiration there.
Genre: Travel/Photojournalism
Style: Documentary but playing with fine art
Equipment: Camera and tripod

Presentation of the Images

I wanted to have a start and an end, so I chose the bokeh and loss of view experiments on a cast iron signpost to bookend the set. The middle four images are all double exposures.
The images also needed to flow so there was a connection between one image and the next.
The cast iron sign links to the rusting iron railway bridge
The cycle path sign in image 3 joins the second and fourth images together.
The graffitti parapets connect images 4 and 5.
The double exposed eye in image 5 is echoed in the bokeh eye predominant in the final image.
Greys and greens are a consistent colour palatte across all 6 images.

I did enjoy experimenting with double exposures - first time I've tried them. I liked the ones that had people crossing them as they gave a ghostly feel. A grey day ensured any over exposures could be toned down in the post-production - having little sky worked best though.
Being critical of the set, the contrast between the double exposure images and the cast iron signpost may be too much. The signpost is crisp and sharp, whereas the double exposures have an inherent softness.
