A week of extremes on Kökar island: the spring weather was very cold, even inside when I arrived to the small and minimalistic cottage. Three first two days I was sitting inside with my winter clothes, it was a bit amusing.

The cottage slowly warmed up and the challenge was in the evenings to first warm the water in a big kettle and go outside in minus degrees to wash myself. The hikes were long and hard; I really pushed myself to the max.

The loo which is outside, about a hundred meters from the cottage, going there in the cold and even in the night only with a flashlight was good exercise (one night I went out to take a picture of the starry sky, there is no light pollution on Kökar because no streetlights on the whole island) During the week I saw three people.

I would highly recommend to any person to experience these kind of things, it's really building up the resilience.

Inside the outdoor loo door there is a small red heart with a poem (in Swedish):
Lycklig och ensam
jag här får vara
och slipper närgångna
frågor besvara

Happy and alone
I can be here
