Ov Club is a nightclub located in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I worked with them in early 2017 to develop a logo, apply it to a a variety of signage for the club, and also design a logomark for one of their club nights, WAY HII.

The timeline for the club logo was pretty tight, and developing a full brand identity was not in scope. The client wanted to start the project off by looking at a few options for the logo in isolation. I developed these five logo options based on their direction: they wanted to prominently feature the letters "OV" as the main logomark, with "Club" beneath it, acting almost as a tagline. They wanted the main OV mark to be modern, graphic, and bold — something that could be easily recognized and read from a distance. I explored some options using negative space and closure to for the two letters.
Ultimately we went with a heavy-contrast treatment, intended to be both edgy and classy.

The logo was applied to a variety of signage to be used in the bar — a backlit sign outside of the venue, as well as two treatments that would appear behind the two bars in the club. The main bar featured the logo cut into a sheet of perforated metal, and the smaller side bar used a smaller neon sign.

I also designed the logo for one of their first club nights — WAY HII, named after the song by the same name on A$AP Mob's first Cozy Tapes album. I wanted the logo to capture the style of the song — psychedelic lyrics backed by a beat made using motown samples — while still aligning with the bold, graphic style of the club's main logo. We went with a distorted halftone text treatment.
The WAY HII logo was used mainly for social media templates used to promote the night.
