Almond is a book that talks about a person who suffers from a condition that causes enables him to feel and understand human emotions. He relies on a list that he created to know how to react to certain situations. I had an idea to create a book cover that can portray these key attributes of the character in a form of typography. To convey them, I surround the silhouette of the character with phrases that contain emotion or reaction. The phrases have unidentifiable characters to relate to his disability in recognizing these emotions. I use the word “almond” to represent his silhouette as he compares himself to an almond several times in the book.
