'An Ode to Art'
Welcome to An Ode to Art, My final major project for University.

I knew for this project, I wanted to do something surrounding accessibility. Graphic Design is predominantly visual communication making it difficult and sometimes entirely inaccessible to visually impaired and blind individuals. I believe that design should be accessible to the widest possible audience which is why I chose to create a project inspired by visual accessibility.

The Concept: An exhibition experience designed to show art in an alternative manner that can be made easily accessible.

The Audience: Anyone! Designing for accessibility doesn't mean my focus solely had to be around visually impaired or blind people, I wanted this project to be accessible to whoever is interested.

The Solution: An Ode to Art. An experience that combines poetry, audio description and visual impairment.

Enjoy!
Each flyer/poster design explores a different visual impairment that I had researched. These visual representations of impairments are Diabetic Retinopathy, Macular Degeneration. Glaucoma and Partial Blindness.
The exhibition includes poetry inspired by the world renowned 'Birth of Venus' by Sandro Botticelli. I asked poets to create poems based on this work which were then converted into audio readings. Based on the poems and the audio readings, I created visual poems to be displayed in the exhibition alongside the audio readings.
The exhibition is also accompanied by a giftshop because of course, one of the nest parts of the exhibition is the giftshop!
The packaging is designed for life hack products, I didn't want to follow the typical route of tea towels, mugs and stationary, the giftshop was designed to include products that can be beneficial to the lives of visually impaired and blind individuals.
