The Best Settings To Shoot In, for beginners

The Best Setting To Shoot In, for beginners.

Knowing which settings to use can be confusing, and to a certain extent takes the fun out of photography.  The ability in deciding which setting to choose can have on how the shot looks can make the difference between an average photo and an awesome one, which is why it is important you know and understand how to use your camera.

However, in fear of sounding contradictory, what if I was to tell you to leave your camera in the Auto mode! I have been saying for so long that you need to take your settings off of auto and familiarise yourself with the other modes if you are to truly grow and develop as a photographer, so why am I now going against my own advice?

In the beginning, during the early stages of your photography, as far as I am concerned the key is to enjoy it.  Learn the basics on how to take better photos, to enjoy the art of taking photos, and not to get bogged down in the technicalities of the camera.  This will come in time, but in the beginning, the priority is to enjoy photography for what it is and what you can do, be that by yourself or even via an external app.  Remember, there will be people who will take great joy in telling you you’re not a photographer, that your photos suck, that using certain filters or apps isn’t “real” photography.  My advice to you is, and will always be, ignore them.

As long as you are enjoying what you do and the process of creating imagery, then who are they to tell you otherwise.  There are people out there who will enjoy what you’re doing as much as you, don’t let the minority dissuade you from expressing your creative side.

This is the beauty of photography.  It’s subjective.

Be creative, be inspired, be you.
