The Housing in Colombia course intends to explore the architectural possibilities for assessing the way in which intermediate cities are facing pressure for urban development in most of the country, and the advantages or obstacles that housing projects may have in supporting this growth.
The project follows a local urban master plan from the local planning commission, where the intention is to renew the urban center and recover the old river which crosses some blocks from the city center.

Its development begins by visiting the place, understanding the living pattern of its dwellers as individuals and as a community, and specially identifying the correlation between commerce and housing. With this information in mind, the resulting project tries to enhance the productive housing unit that already has an important role in the place, but also understands the need for other types of housing units that the place requires in order to complement the productive units and create new dynamics in the community. This eradicates the traditional idea of designing one single housing unit that has to fit every dweller need, and allowing the project to address different types of dwellers, needs and programs.
