A New Holland Honeyeater feeding on a Banksia at Piney Lakes Reserve, Perth, Western Australia
The New Holland Honeyeater was one of the first species to be described by the first Europeans to visit Australia. The Banksia is a native wildflower which honours the English botanist Sir Joseph Banks, who collected the first Banksia specimens in 1770, during James Cook's first expedition.
