Cryo, (2012)

Cryo is an ecofriendly designed refrigerator. My goal was to find a way to reduce food waste in any point in the consumption chain. To do so, Cryo is designed with 3 independant compartments with their own temperature to accomodate a bigger amount of food type, because no, it's not every food item that needs to be at 4 degrees Celcius (temp of standard fridge). This feature allows a better energetic efficientcy and a better food conservation.

The glass compartments on the right separates climateric and  non-climateric fruits and vegies (climateric = ethylene gas sensitive) so that a gas control can be made by the system. Doing so allows certain fruits and vegetables to mature slower, giving more time for users to eat it.

The glass compartment on the left is a temperature controled herb garden. The heat needed to grow the herbs is recycled from the compressor evaporator.

Doors slides toward user to allow a better view on the fridge content, reducing possibilities of waste due to the forgetfulness.

Compressor is easily reachable by the side of the fridge allowing an easier and quicker access to repair of change the compressor. Also, potatoes can be store in the opaque lower right compartment.

Finaly, covering is made in plywood rather than standard steel thus reducing environemental impacts of fabrication.
