Restaurant Menu:
For the menu I was toying with a lot of different ideas and most of them had curves to them as van gogh's starry night had a lot of curvature to it and I wanted in to have arches to have a reference to the movie eternity's gate and I wanted to have sunflower vines growing up the menu to give reference to van gogh's almond blossoms but in sunflower form, I also wanted to give more freeform movement to the sunflowers to give more recognition to his use of freeform shapes. I wanted the sunflowers to have a sketch like linework to them because van gogh learned to draw with chalk. For the background texture I wanted the restaurant to have a homey feel, like you walk into your kitchen and see the meal plans written out.
For the menu layout, I wanted to be clean and simple and give a homey feel to it. I wanted the header type to be script to show a handwritten feel to it. And I chose a more serif font to give a classic look to it since van gogh is considered a classic.
For the create your own stroopwafel menu design, I went off of making your own pizza menus and made it dessert form. I wanted it to be very clear cut design for this part of the menu so there is very little confusion
For the menu, I wanted it to be a small menu with equal parts French and Dutch so I kept it small and the restaurant is more of a mini bistro/cafe and where you can sit and hang out for a bit before you go out and run errands.
